School Year Position –  2- 3 hours per day (10:00 to 1:30 estimate)



Position PurposeThis position is responsible for performing routing duties in connection with the operation of a school cafeteria and washing pots, pans, and small wares used in the food preparation and delivery. 

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Set 3 bay sinks up for washing, rinsing, and sanitizing.
  2. Turn on and fill the pot washer machine
  3. In the main kitchen hand wash pots, pans, small wares from breakfast and lunch production.
  4. Load soiled sheet pans and pans in the washer.
  5. Clean sinks and sink room at the end of day 
  6. Put clean pots and pans on the shelf.
  7. Sweep the area of the pot washer.
  8. Report all equipment breakdowns to the cafeteria manager.
  9. Responsible for ordering all cleaning products and chemicals needed for the dishes and pot washer. 
  10. Perform any other duties assigned by the Cafeteria Manager.

 

Recommended Minimum Qualifications:

 

Education, Training and Experience:

High School Degree required or GED.

 

Knowledge, Ability and Skill:

Knowledge:  Cafeteria and sanitizing knowledge. 

 

Ability:  Ability to collaborate with others, ability to communicate effectively, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all school employees, students, teachers. Ability to learn and safely and effectively use facilities, equipment and materials.  Ability to communicate effectively, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all school employees, students, teachers, parents, and vendors.  Ability to work independently.

 

Skills:  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  Must demonstrate effective knowledge of and be sensitive to the needs of a diverse student population.  Willing and able to perform assigned duties in a manner that is sensitive to different personalities, respectful of the role and authority of school leaders, sensitive to community dynamics.  A commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Have the desire and skill to work with a diverse community in a meaningful and genuine manner. Culturally Proficient leadership skills including visioning, active listening, coaching, facilitation, and use of data for decision making.

Job Environment:

  • Work is performed under typical school cafeteria conditions; the environment is moderately noisy.   
  • Interacts with other school staff, teachers, and students.
